Keep reading to answer some frequently asked questions if you’re interested in learning more about our handmade Italian green shoes for women.

What can you expect from green women's shoes made in Italy?

For centuries, Italy has been the world center for bespoke luxury leather goods, with its history of leather tanning dating back to the 8th century when the Etruscans were the first people to discover the technique of vegetable tanning. The styles and techniques were later adopted by the Romans, who used Italian leather to make sandals and other goods.

Later, in the 1900s, Italian fashion continued to evolve thanks to famous designers like Gucci, Prada and Ferragamo, who all leveraged Italian leather in their styles and continued to bring notoriety to Italian clothing.

While the process has evolved today, the foundation of Italian leather making remains the same. It can take up to 60 days to produce a piece of Italian leather, with each step meticulously carried out by Italian artisans. The popularity and lasting nature of Italian leather are thanks to the artisans and craftsmen who utilize the techniques passed down from generation to generation. To get the green color that is used in our green leather shoes for women, the leather is made with a special blend of tannins, resulting in a vivid color for our Italian leather and suede.

This is also the case with our Italeau shoes. By coupling long-standing traditional shoemaking techniques with modern features like Flexlite technology, our handmade green shoes offer lasting comfort for all of our customers. They incorporate a cushioned memory foam insole with arch support, allowing the shoe to mold to your feed and provide unparalleled style and comfort.

There are a few things you can expect from our green women’s shoes made in Italy:

Premium product - Our green shoes for women are handcrafted with premium Italian-made leather. Featuring a rich and vibrant color, the full-grain leather is not only soft and supple — it’s also incredibly durable and strong. Your investment in this premium product will outlast the traditional factory shoe and provide the owner with a long lifespan for years to come.

Versatile design - At Italeau, we offer a curated selection of handmade Italian shoes for women. Thanks to Italian leather's incredible natural properties, our shoes are made to fit any personality and style.

Uniquely handcrafted - Our shoes are handmade by skilled artisans that have been trained on leather shoemaking techniques that can’t be accomplished by a factory. You'll immediately notice the difference in stitching, material and quality in a handmade luxury shoe compared to a shoe made with synthetic material in a factory.

Flexibility - Our green shoes for women are made with Flexlite soles, allowing for a feather-light construction and super flexible shoe. This, combined with the natural properties of Italian leather, create a custom fit that is anything but stiff.

Comfort - We believe that a shoe cannot be truly luxurious if it isn't fully functional. We design each pair of shoes with a supportive shape and memory foam insoles to offer the ultimate luxury of comfort all day long.

Functionality - Unlike other types of leather or suede, our green shoes made in Italy are waterproof, so you can conquer any type of weather that comes your way. You can feel confident your Italeau shoes won’t get damaged by rain or snow.

Consciously made - At Itealau, all of our products are made in Italy by artisans that are fairly paid and protected. We believe in giving back to the world and creating goods that are consciously made. That’s why a portion of our profits go to to provide clean water access to people in need. Like the soles beneath our feet, we value water’s foundational role in our lives. We are proud to say that each time you purchase a piece of Italeau footwear, you provide long-term clean water access for a person in need.

Durable - There’s a reason Italian leather is known as the best in the world. It’s because it is incredibly comfortable yet also durable.  Your shoes can take a beating with regular wear, but Italian leather is made to last decades.

While trends and products have changed over the decades, the Italian leather used to make our shoes truly makes them special. While other countries utilize factories and mass-production facilities, Italy has remained dedicated to creating bespoke luxury Italian leather shoes by hand.

Ultimately, when you purchase a pair of green women’s shoes made in Italy, you’re getting a custom, handmade product that is meant to outlast any traditional pair of shoes. Made by hand with the highest-quality material in the foothills of Italy,  you can rest assured that your green shoes from Italeau will take you places for several years.

How do you choose the right style of green shoes?

With so many must-have styles and designs, picking the right style of green shoes can be difficult. If you’re trying to decide which style is right for you, ask yourself these questions:

Where do I plan to wear them most? Are you looking for an everyday shoe that you can wear casually on a regular basis? Or do you need a dressier option for date nights or the office? While you can dress our shoes up or down, consider the level of formality you’re looking for.

Do I live in a wet climate? If you live in a cooler, wet or snowy climate, you might find our green waterproof booties a great fit. With their shearling lining and waterproof suede, these green shoes are for women who want to wear durable yet stylish shoes in inclement weather. If you live in a warmer, dryer climate.

What will match my wardrobe and style? While our shoes have a timeless design, each woman has a different individual style that is reflected in their footwear. Our green shoes come in many different styles, offering something for any look or wardrobe.

What is my budget? We offer our luxury handmade shoes at direct-to-consumer prices, so you don’t have to worry about the middleman. We offer a wide range of prices so all women are able to afford and enjoy our dark green shoes.

As you explore our selection of green shoes, you can rest assured that whichever style you pick, our handmade Italian shoes will enhance your wardrobe and elevate your style.

What size of handmade green shoes are right for me?

Picking the right size of green shoe is crucial to ensuring you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience. We offer a wide range of sizes, including extended sizes, so women of all sizes can enjoy our shoes. As you explore the styles and options, make sure you review our sizing chart. You’ll see that our sizes are based on a medium-width foot and insole. If you think you have a wider foot or higher instep, we suggest sizing up to achieve the best fit. Also, if you generally wear thicker socks or tights, it might be beneficial to size up.

What’s the best way to style green shoes for women?

Our green shoes are a playful, vibrant addition to any wardrobe. No matter what style you opt for, there are countless ways to style our green shoes for women. By playing with different colors and textures, you can create a dynamic look that will turn heads. Here are some of our favorite ways:

With white - Create a blank canvas with a white dress or white denim, and add a pop of color with our green shoes. Your shoes will stand out and serve as a statement piece!

With black - Similar to a white outfit, your green shoes will look great with black jeans or pants — especially if your shoes are a lighter shade of green.

With red - Opposite of green on the color wheel is red, making it a great color combo. Pair your green leather shoes with a red cardigan for a coordinated and festive look.

With a light pink - When spring has sprung, a pink and green color combo will give you a fashionable and seasonal look. Try our green ballet flats with a pink midi skirt for a feminine, comfortable pairing.

With other shades of green - By layering on other shades of green, you can create a dimensional and one-tone outfit that’s coordinated and stylish.

With suits - If you’re looking for a way to make your professional wardrobe pop, consider adding a pair of our green shoes. Our Italian leather mules are perfect for dressing up any blazer or slack to make a chic office look.

With denim and plaid - For a casual weekend look, pair our green shoes with your favorite jeans and throw on a plaid shirt. Bonus points if the plaid shirt has some green hues in it!

With floral dresses - Green goes great with pops of warm colors like red, yellow and orange. Grab a floral dress that will look work perfectly with our green shoes for women.

There are so many fun styles and ways to wear your green shoes. The most important part is that the style reflects you and your personality! Since green is a versatile color that can work in any season, you’ll be able to stylishly wear your green shoes year-round. Mix and match different textures and styles to create a look that is uniquely yours.

Can green leather and suede shoes from Italeau get wet?

Yes! Unlike many other leather and suede products, our Italeau shoes are waterproof. When designing our shoes, we wanted to create a smart shoe that didn’t compromise on quality or material, allowing you to wear them in wet weather. Unlike other Italian leather or suede that can easily get damaged or ruined in water, our products can withstand moisture, making them a great investment in your wardrobe. This also means you can trek out in the snow in our boots which will keep you warm and dry in colder temperatures.

Can green shoes be worn any time of the year?

Did you know that the color green symbolizes healing, eternity and energy? This rich and fabulous color is versatile year-round and always in style, no matter the season. Here are a few suggestions as you think through how to wear your green shoes at different times of the year.

Spring - Green is the best color for spring outfits. The leaves are back on the trees, flowers are blooming, and green is everywhere. To wear green shoes in the springtime, throw on a pair of ballet flats with a floral midi skirt or skinny denim jeans.

Summer - Whether you’re heading to the beach or the farmers market, green shoes pair perfectly with your jean shorts, sun dresses and rompers. Plus, since our green shoes are made from breathable Italian leather, you don’t have to worry about your feet sweating in the summer heat.

Fall - With cooler temps comes the perfect time to use transitional wardrobe pieces with your green shoes. Pair our green shoes with dark denim and a cardigan sweater for an effortless and comfortable look that transitions from day to night effortlessly.

Winter - Don’t let your feet get cold this winter. Our Italeau dark green shoes for women come in several winter styles, like suede ankle booties and shearling booties. Since they’re waterproof, you can wear them in the snow without worrying about damaging them.

You can wear green shoes any time of year, thanks to our variety of styles to keep you looking fashionable all year.

What’s the best way to keep my dark green shoes from getting dirty?

It’s natural that your dark green shoes can get dirty in the midst of your everyday wear. While our shoes are waterproof and stain resistant, they can still encounter dirt, mud or any other natural elements that require cleaning.

However, you can take a few proactive measures to ensure your green shoes stay vibrant and clean.

Use shoe protectant - If you want to add an extra layer of protection to your shoe, purchase a shoe protectant. These products will treat the fabric - above and beyond its original durability - to prevent stains and dirt from sticking to them. They are easily found online or in stores and are sprayed on the shoe’s exterior to add another layer of protection.

Store them properly - When you’re not wearing your green shoes, make sure to store them in a dust bag, away from the sun. This will keep them safe from dust or debris in the air and protect them from added exposure when not being worn.

Clean them regularly - Regular cleaning will ensure the dirt doesn’t permanently stain your shoes and leave a lasting mark.

It’s natural for shoes to get slightly dirty — they encounter all sorts of dirt and surfaces throughout the day! With some preventive measures, though, you can keep them fresh and crisp!

What’s the best way to clean my dark green shoes?

One of the benefits of dark green shoes is their ability to hide dirt and debris naturally. However, as with any luxury footwear, cleaning them regularly can extend the life and condition of your shoe. Whether you have a pair of Italian leather ballet flats or our suede ankle booties, you should clean your shoes every 1-3 months to keep them looking new.

If you’re unsure how to clean your shoes, follow these steps:

Gently wipe off any dirt or debris-  First, we recommend you clean off any noticeable dirt or debris on the shoe. This includes the exterior, as well as the sole of the shoe. Grab a soft rag or brush and wipe away anything on the shoe's surface.

If your shoe is Italian leather, you can apply a soap mixture - If you have a shoe made with Italian leather, your next step should be to make a mixture of warm water and soap. Dip a brush or rag into the water and wipe the exterior surface of the shoe to remove the grime and dirt.

If you have suede, spot clean any stains - While our suede is waterproof, it is also a more fragile material. Because of this, we suggest spot-cleaning your stains instead of using water to rub them out. Using a stain eraser or special suede material, address any specific stained areas and thoroughly clean them to remove the stains.

Add conditioner or protectant -  Adding suede protectant or leather conditioner to your shoes can greatly extend their wearability and improve the appearance of your green shoes. Follow the instructions on the label, but you’ll usually apply the conditioner directly to the shoe and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes. Then, buff it off with another soft cloth. Suede protectants are usually sprayed on the shoe and then left to dry.

Dry - Once complete, leave your shoe to dry in the open air for at least 24 hours. Make sure to place your shoes in a cool, dry place, so the material doesn’t get damaged by heat. To preserve the material, you should keep leather and suede away from extreme heat like a fireplace or harsh sunlight.

When it comes time to clean your green shoes, it can be helpful to invest in the right tools to get the job done. Whether it’s a leather brush with soft bristles or a microfiber towel, the better prepared you are, the easier it will be to clean your green shoes on a regular basis.

Cleaning your shoes doesn’t need to be hard, though! By following the proper cleaning suggestions regularly, you’ll be able to enjoy your green shoes and keep them looking fresh.
